I don’t know who said this first, but it is so true. Health is more than just a number on a scale. Now, I’m not going to ignore the role that weight plays with our health. But if we focus and obsess with numbers, it can lead to health disorders and control issues.
I own bathroom scales, but I can’t remember the last time I used them. That’s a good thing, because at one point in my life, I was on them every day. Do you know how it made me feel? Miserable.
I’ve seen several before and after posts online that have subverted the traditional weight loss story. They’ve been about gaining a few pounds back, and how great that’s actually been. So when we think of health, we need to consider our whole wellbeing. Are you happy? Do you feel nourished?
So ladies and gents, ditch the scales. Eat well (and note that I don’t say ‘right’ – after all, if you want a treat, have it) and move in a way that works for you. Focus on happiness.
